One of the Best Outdoor Adventures! An Introduction to Backpacking in the Wilderness of Lake Wales Ridge State Forest, January 19-21, 2013
Have a blast learning to backpack in a remote part of central Florida. We will learn how to carry all of our gear for two days in the remote Lake Wales Ridge State Forest in southeast 0f Polk County. This will be a cool weather trip, which means no bugs, shorter days and warmer clothes. Enjoy our fellowship around toasty campfires in the winter air.
The Arbuckle Tract of Lake Wales Ridge State Forest is true Wilderness. We plan on backpacking at least 20 miles on this weekend. We will be in campsites that offer great views of blackwater creeks and Lake Arbuckle.

The wrap up blog may give you some ideas on a suitable loop and water opportunites. I use a filter and for chemical treatment a little bleach in a visine container. Use one small drop per quart. This is a long distance hiker trick!
